Accessibility
Ideal Home Sale wants anyone selling a house to be able to use this site, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, captions or zoom. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
Last reviewed: October 5, 2026.
What the site is built to do
- Every page, menu and form works with a keyboard alone, with a visible outline showing where you are, and the sticky header never covers the field you're typing in.
- Text and buttons meet the WCAG contrast ratios, and nothing relies on color alone, including form errors, which are written out in words.
- Every form field has a visible label. The offer form asks its questions as large buttons, keeps your answers if you go back a step, and never asks you to retype something you already entered.
- The spam check on the form runs in the background, with no puzzle to solve.
- Buttons and links are large enough to tap easily on a phone.
- Moving sections can be paused, and the site shows still images instead of motion when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Videos have captions and a full written transcript on the same page.
- The phone number sits in the same place on every page.
How we check it
Before launch and after major changes, the site is tested with automated tools (axe-core and Google Lighthouse) and by hand: a full pass with only a keyboard and a pass with a screen reader through the offer form.
The last review, on October 5, 2026, used axe-core 4.13 on every page at phone and desktop widths, Google Lighthouse accessibility on one page of each type, and a keyboard-only pass through the menus and every step of the offer form.
Known limits
The October 5, 2026 review left these limits, and each one is being worked on:
- The review used automated tools and a keyboard. A pass with a screen reader (NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on an iPhone) through the offer form is still to be done before the site goes live.
- Automated tools catch only part of what can go wrong, so pages added after this review, such as new city pages and guides, are checked as each one is built.
